Title: Exploring the Connections Between EMI Teaching and BESTEP

This session is suitable for university teachers from all departments who wish to learn more about the BESTEP, and EMI teachers who want to encourage their students to practice specific language skills effectively in the EMI classroom.
Abstract
This online session aims to assist EMI teachers in understanding the test focuses and descriptors of the BESTEP so that they will comprehend the English proficiency that test-takers of the BESTEP possess before entering EMI classrooms. It extends to teaching strategies within EMI classrooms and ways to encourage students to demonstrate their English abilities in EMI contexts.
In this session, we will:
• introduce the overall design, descriptors, and corresponding task types of the BESTEP.
• explain speaking and writing performances through sample tasks and example answers.
• share diverse EMI teaching strategies and how to encourage students to utilize their English skills.
